"MATVEEVSKY GARDEN". SAINT PETERSBURG

The "Matveevsky Garden" space includes an experimental bureau and a workshop where new collections and customized orders are created. Here, technologists together with designers test new methods of creation, processing techniques and innovative materials.

The atelier is located in the profitable house of the First Russian Insurance Society, designed by architect Benois in the early 20th century. In its essence, this house was also the most innovative at that time in Russia. On the numerous guided tours that are held within the walls of the house, you can hear more about its creation and 20th century plans, (for example, on a tour from the DK Lev Lurie). Stained glass mosaics with geometric patterns have been preserved on the bays. It is known that earlier Dmitri Shostakovich lived in this house, here he worked on the Seventh, "Leningrad", symphony. The "Matveevsky Garden" is within walking distance, which is where the name of the workshop comes from.
